Magsig-Pallett Throwing Club
Who Are We?
We are a group of athletes that enjoy throwing things
MPTC competes in all 5 track & field throwing disciplines: shot put, discus, javelin, hammer, and indoor weight. While we are an official AAU Youth Track Team, joining our club is not required to practice with us. We have many throwers from other local AAU teams as well as high school/open/masters/senior throwers that join us.
Coach Toby Pallett
I'm Coach Toby, and I have a passion for the sport of throwing. With 39 years of experience under my belt, I have competed at the high school and college levels, and even had the opportunity to compete with the Box Hill Athletic Club in Australia.
For the past 15 years, I have been dedicated to coaching youth in the AAU and at Edsel Ford HS in Dearborn for the past 9 years. I am a Level 3 AAU Trained Coach through the Positive Coaches Alliance and a USATF Level 1 Track & Field Certified Coach. I am also a USATF Apprentice Track & Field Official and have completed SafeSport training through the USOC to ensure the safety of all athletes.
As a coach at our track and field throwing sports club, I strive to create a positive and supportive environment where athletes of all levels can improve their skills and reach their goals. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or just starting out, I am here to help you achieve your full potential and have fun in the process!
Coaching Approach
At the heart of my coaching philosophy is a commitment to helping each athlete reach their full potential. I believe that individual improvement is the key to success and I focus on helping athletes set and achieve personal records rather than just winning medals.
I am open to coaching athletes of all levels and backgrounds and do not discriminate based on team affiliation. However, due to the growing demand for my coaching services, I have had to limit the number of athletes I work with in order to ensure that I can provide the level of attention and support that each athlete deserves.
Practice Schedule
Practice times will vary depending on my work/family schedule. Generally, I provide a schedule a few weeks in advance on the club website. I do not spend time at practice working on strength and conditioning though I am happy to provide suggestions for a work-out program, but this part of the training is left up to the individual throwers.
